Inclusivity and Safety Policy
FHN’s Commitment to Inclusivity:
Five Horsemen Nonprofit, Inc. (FHN) is dedicated to creating safe, empowering, and transformative spaces for girls of color. FHN supports the LGBTQ+ community and affirms the rights, dignity, and lived experiences of all individuals across the gender spectrum.
FHN’s Current Focus:
FHN’s work serves those assigned female at birth (AFAB). This decision is foundationally rooted in FHN’s commitment to safety, shared lived experiences, and the unique challenges faced by girls of color.
Why This Focus?
• Safety & Well-Being: The spaces created are designed to be safe, nurturing, and responsive to the experiences of AFAB individuals’ challenges, particularly oppressed gender-based experiences. FHN programs are designed around girls of color, ensuring that the FHN program remains impactful and effective.
• Capacity & Sustainability: As a grassroots organization, FHN must be intentional in our focus to provide the best possible support to those we serve, and program participants.
FHN’s Stance on LGBTQ+ Inclusion:
While FHN’s current work centers on AFAB individuals, we stand firmly in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. FHN acknowledges and respects the diverse identities within this spectrum and continues to explore ways to expand our inclusivity while maintaining the safety and integrity of the FHN program spaces.
Future Considerations:
FHN is committed to ongoing reflection and learning. As the FHN organization grows, FHN will continue to evaluate how we can best serve all girls of color while ensuring safety and support for all identities.
